Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS)
The Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) was established in 2003 with core funding by the UK's Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). COMPAS has around 16 full time research staff with a range of disciplinary backgrounds. Additionally, it hosts up to 12 PhD students. The mission of COMPAS is to conduct high quality research in order to develop theory and knowledge, inform policy-making and public debate, and engage users of research within the field of migration. The Centre also hosts a range of academics, practitioners and policy makers who may require association with COMPAS to support work on a designated task or project connected to the Centre’s own research. COMPAS contributes to the teaching of the MSc in Migration Studies along with colleagues at the International Migration Institute (IMI) and the Refugee Studies Centre (RSC).
