Work Package 5, Quantitative data gathering, took place from October 2010 through May 2011 and was coordinate by IMI (U.K.).
In WP5, IMI developed an optimal sampling design for the survey and took crucial steps for survey preparation such as training local researchers (who were involved in the survey in the 4 regions) and drawing up strategies for random respondent recruitment (age category 18-40; gender stratification; 500 per region, 2000 per country). The face-to-face survey was carried out by students or junior researchers under close supervision of the Geographical Duo Teams. IMI was responsible for giving methodological support and for monitoring the process, as such taking up final responsibility for the quantitative data gathering in the four countries.
IMI subsequently organized data entry into a pooled data file and performed a first descriptive analysis of data in function of the preparation of the qualitative data gathering. The 3rd meeting of the Consortium & Scientific Committee took place in Oxford in July 2011. At this meeting, the project partners discussed the preliminary descriptive survey data. These findings informed the methodological elaboration of the qualitative data gathering.
Project Paper 7 Survey report with first descriptive statistics’ was published on the project website in 2011.
The embargo of 36 months on the quantitative datasets was lifted in June 2015. The EUMAGINE data are now accessible to the public:
